FAQs
1. General Questons
How old do I need to be to get a tattoo?
You must be at least 18 years old and present a valid ID (National ID Card/Passport). For clients under 18, our studio requires the direct consent or physical presence of a parent or legal guardian.
Does getting a tattoo hurt? Which areas hurt the most?
Getting a tattoo does involve some level of pain (similar to a scratch or mild sunburn), but it is entirely tolerable. During the process, your body releases endorphins to help reduce the discomfort.
Sensitive areas usually include the ribs, soles of the feet, neck, inner arms/thighs, and areas with thin skin near the bone. More comfortable spots include the forearms, outer arms, and calves.
Can I bring my own design?
Absolutely! You can bring your own ideas or reference images. Our artists will use them as inspiration to refine and redesign them into an exclusive piece that flows perfectly with your body’s contours.
Can I get a cover-up or fix an old tattoo?
Yes. We have extensive experience with cover-up tattoos. This process requires an in-person consultation at our studio so we can assess the darkness and size of the existing tattoo, allowing us to determine the best possible cover-up solution.
How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Make sure to get plenty of sleep, eat a full meal, and stay hydrated before your appointment. Strictly avoid alcohol, stimulants, or blood-thinning medications for at least 24 hours beforehand. We recommend wearing comfortable, dark-colored clothing that allows easy access to the area getting tattooed.
How should I care for the skin area before my appointment?
To ensure the skin absorbs ink optimally, keep the area healthy. You should regularly apply moisturizer to the area for about a week before your session. Strictly avoid sun exposure that causes sunburn, and do not shave or wax too close to your appointment date to prevent scratches, irritation, and sensitivity. Any necessary shaving will be done safely by your artist at the studio prior to the tattoo.
What about eating and resting during long tattoo sessions?
Don’t worry. We provide meals for long sessions. Feel free to take a break whenever you need one during the process.
2. Artists
Who will be doing my tattoo?
We are proud to have a team of talented and experienced artists. Each artist at our studio has their own specialty and distinct tattoo style (Realistic, Linework, Old School, Blackwork, etc.). We will assign the most suitable artist based on your desired tattoo style.
How do I choose the right artist for my idea?
If you haven’t decided yet, our consultation team will review your ideas and reference images to recommend artists who specialize in that particular style. You can also browse through each artist’s portfolio on our website or fanpage to choose the one whose style you love most.
Can I request a specific tattoo artist?
Absolutely! If you follow and love the style of a specific artist at our studio, please let us know when booking your appointment. We will check their availability and schedule the best time for you.
3. Safety & Hygiene
What are the studio's hygiene and sterilization procedures?
Your safety is our number one priority. Our studio strictly adheres to the highest medical standards to prevent cross-contamination:
- 100% Disposable: All tattoo needles, ink tubes, ink caps, razors, and gloves are brand new, unsealed in front of the client, and safely disposed of immediately after each session.
- Surface Protection: All equipment (tattoo machines, clip cords, lamps, tattoo chairs, and workstations) is covered with single-use protective plastic barriers.
- Medical-grade Sanitization: The workspace is thoroughly disinfected with specialized medical solutions before and after serving each client.
Is the tattoo ink used at the studio safe?
We strictly use premium, authentic tattoo inks imported from top reputable brands worldwide. Our inks are vegan-friendly, free of animal ingredients, safe for the skin, and deliver vibrant, long-lasting colors.
4. Pricing & Payment
How much does a tattoo cost?
Tattoo pricing depends on several factors: size, complexity, placement, style, and the artist’s time. The studio has a minimum charge for small tattoos. For larger projects (such as full sleeves or back pieces), pricing may be calculated at an hourly rate or as a flat rate per session.
How can I get an accurate quote?
The best way is to message us with: (1) Your idea/reference images, (2) The desired placement, and (3) The estimated size (in cm). Alternatively, you can visit our studio for a free consultation and quote from our artists.
What payment methods does the studio accept?
We accept Cash, Bank Transfers, and Credit/Debit Cards (card payments may incur a small surcharge as per bank regulations).
5. Appointments
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment and place a deposit directly on our website at: https://dnatattoovietnam.com/booking/.
Alternatively, you can message us via our Fanpage/Instagram, give us a call, or visit the studio in person. When contacting us, please provide your idea, size, placement, and preferred date/time so we can schedule you as quickly as possible.
Do I need to leave a deposit?
Yes. To secure your appointment and allow the artist to begin the design process, a small deposit is required. This deposit will be deducted directly from the total cost of your tattoo once it is finished. Deposits are non-refundable if you cancel your appointment without prior notice in accordance with studio policy.
Does the studio accept walk-ins?
We always welcome walk-in clients for small tattoos or flash pieces! However, availability depends on our artists’ schedules at the time of your visit. To avoid long wait times, we highly recommend contacting us in advance.
6. Aftercare & Healing
How long does it take for a tattoo to heal?
The surface healing process typically takes 2 to 3 weeks. During this stage, the tattoo will dry out, itch slightly, and peel. However, for the underlying skin layers to fully regenerate and the tattoo to completely settle into the skin, it can take 1 to 2 months.
What is the proper way to care for a new tattoo?
Aftercare determines 50% of the final quality of your healed tattoo. Basic rules include: keeping it clean, applying a thin layer of specialized aftercare ointment, strictly avoiding picking at scabs, no soaking in water (swimming pools, bathtubs, beaches), and avoiding direct sunlight.
Can I exercise after getting a tattoo?
You should rest and avoid intense workouts that cause heavy sweating or exercises that directly stretch the newly tattooed skin for at least the first 1-2 weeks. Sweat can carry bacteria that cause infections, and stretching the skin can crack the protective scabs.
Does the studio have a touch-up policy?
Yes. We offer complimentary touch-ups during the warranty period (1 year), except in cases where the tattoo is damaged due to a failure to follow aftercare instructions (e.g., swimming too soon, scratching, or sun exposure).
